The post-crisis consumer

John Gerzema says there’s an upside to the recent financial crisis — the opportunity for positive change. Speaking at TEDxKC, he identifies four major cultural shifts driving new consumer behavior and shows how businesses are evolving to connect with thoughtful spending.

Here’s an interesting thought to consider today:

“Doing the next right thing is better than doing the next thing right.” – Confucius. Stop right now and think about that and then look at what is going on in your life today as you try to increase your productivity and get to your goals. Are you more focused on doing something that doesn’t mean anything right more than doing the right thing for this situation? One of the greatest reasons we become frustrated in trying to achieve goals is that when we arrive at the conclusion of a task or event we don’t get what we expect.

Unmet expectations = frustration.

Stephen Covey said it this way, “Before you climb the ladder of success make sure it is leaning against the right wall.” What is the next real right thing you should be doing so you can arrive at the destination you really want?
